Support your local shops and you'll get money back thanks to the American Express Shop Small scheme.
American Express Shop Small rewards you for shopping with small businesses.
It closes on 16 December - Sunday - so register your card as soon as you can.
All you need to do is spend £10 or more on your card in a single transaction at a participating small business and you'll bag £5 credit on your statement.
There is no cap on how many £5 credits you can earn during the period, but you will only get one per location. So it pays to spread your shopping around a number of small businesses.
Note that corporate cards, prepaid cards and cards issued by TSB are not eligible for the Shop Small promotion.
Why it pays to spend with American Express
The Shop Small scheme is a nice little earner for American Express users for a couple of weeks, but many American Express cards reward you for spending all year round.
The American Express Platinum Cashback Credit Card gives you 5% cashback up to £125 cashback for your first three months of card membership.
Then you'll earn up to 1.25% cashback, depending on how much you spend on the card. Just watch out for the £25 annual fee.
Alternatively, the American Express Platinum Cashback Everyday credit card also pays 5% cashback on your spending in the first three months (capped at £100).
After that, you'll earn up to 1% cashback, depending on how much you spend on the card (but you must spend at least £3,000 over the year). Unlike its sister card, the Platinum Cashback Everyday doesn't come with an annual fee.
American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card earns Membership Rewards points which can be used for flights and shopping. It has a 20,000 point bonus if you spend £2,000 in the first three months and free lounge access - read more in our rewards card roundup.
