The trouble with pure bred pedigree dogs is that the in-breeding produces health problems which sometimes border on cruelty. Look at an Old English bulldog and the trouble they have breathing. Or the spinal defects associated with German Shepherds (or Alsatians if you're over 40.) A mongrel, bitza (bitza this, bitza that) or Heinz dog (57 varieties) will be much cheaper to buy and is likely to give many more years of healthy and devoted companionship.
How much is that doggy in the window?
You might think they’re barking mad but some people will do whatever it takes to get their hands on the paw-fect pedigree pooch – even if that means forking out thousands.
And that's nothing: some dogs can even be worth millions. Read on to discover the most expensive dog breeds money can buy, with all dollar amounts in US dollars unless otherwise stated.
