Amazon Prime Day: new discount shopping day for Prime members

One-day discount event promises more deals than Black Friday.

Amazon is launching a one-day discount shopping extravaganza exclusively for Prime members, called Prime Day.

The first Prime Day will take place on Wednesday 15th July and Amazon is promising it will have double the number of deals compared to last year's Black Friday event.

What you can get

New and existing Prime members will be able to take their pick from thousands of Lightening Deals and six Deals of the Day.

Amazon says there will be exclusive discounts across categories including electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports, outdoor and more.

The offers will start rolling out at midnight, with new deals popping up throughout the day.

How to take advantage

You’ll need to be a Prime member in order to get access to this exclusive one-day discount shopping event.

Amazon Prime costs £79 a year and offers unlimited free one-day delivery, access to TV and movie streaming service Prime Instant Video, unlimited cloud photo storage with Prime Photos and access to 800,000 eBooks through the Kindle Lending Library.

In addition Prime members in selected London postcodes can get one-hour delivery on selected items with Prime Now. Customers can choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour, same-day delivery slots between 8am and midnight, seven days a week.

Prime Day is the latest benefit for Prime members and will become an annual event, which Amazon no doubt hopes will tempt more people to sign up.

You can try Amazon Prime free for 30 days to see if it suits you.
