If you watch Sky Sports and Sky Movies through Virgin Media you will soon have to pay more for your subscriptions.
Virgin Media says that this is the result of increased charges it has to pay Sky to carry its premium channels.
Channels that are affected
[SPOTLIGHT]From 1st June 2015, Sky Sports will go up by £2.00 a month, while Sky Movies will go up by 50p a month. If you subscribe to both, you're looking at shelling out an extra £30 a year.
Brigitte Trafford, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Virgin, said: “As we have made clear to Ofcom any increase in the value of the Premier League's live TV rights eventually ends up hitting the pockets of fans. This is why we are arguing so strongly for a change in the way those rights are sold.”
Ofcom is currently investigating how the Premier League sells live rights to broadcasters, to see if it is working in customers' best interest and whether the current system contravenes UK competition law.
Sky has already announced increases to its pricing to cover the fees it pays for Premier League football games. It is putting up the price of both its bundles and its premium channels.
