Direct Save Telecom launches no-contract unlimited broadband

If you can't commit to a long-term contract, then this £16.95-a-month broadband deal should be right up your street!

Last month Direct Save Telecom launched low-cost internet access for a mere £1.95 a month.

Now it has followed up its budget-busting deal with another tempting offer, this time aimed at people unable or unwilling to lock into long-term contracts.

No-contract unlimited broadband for £16.95 a month

Direct Save has launched a new package called 'Unlimited Family Broadband With No Contract'. As the name makes clear, this deal gives you unlimited internet access without having to sign up to a contract that locks you in for anything up to 24 months.

Here are the terms of this new deal:

Direct Save Telecom

Package

Unlimited Family Broadband With No Contract

(includes free weekend UK calls)

Technical support

UK-based, 24/7 skilled support

As you can see, this budget broadband deal has no set-up costs, enabling you to get online without paying a penny upfront. Instead, you pay £16.95 every four weeks for unlimited internet access. This means that you can quit this contract at less than a month's notice.

It's worth noting that you'll pay 13 four-weekly fees each year for broadband, which come to £220.35 a year. Add in 12 monthly fees of £13.75 for line rental (£165) and £8.95 for postage & packing and this no-contract deal will set you back £394.30 in the first year.

This averages to £32.86 a month, which is not particularly cheap for broadband plus landline. Then again, what you lose in price, you gain in flexibility, because no other contract currently allows a no-hassle exit at short notice.

The deal includes free weekend calls to UK geographic numbers. Extending this to include free evening calls adds another £2.55 a month. For free anytime calls, the extra charge is £4.95 a month. Also, it's worth noting that Direct Save's call and connection costs are lower than market leader BT's.

Affordable broadband for everyone

Clearly, this no-contract broadband package is not for people willing to agree a long-term contract with an internet service provider. Instead, it's firmly aimed at households that can't or won't commit to a long-term package.

Stavros Tsolakis, chief executive of Direct Save Telecom, pointed out that many families are not in a position to commit to a long-term package. He added: "Our aim is to make broadband available and affordable to everyone and, unlike other providers, we offer deals which appeal to all UK broadband users -- no matter their circumstances or demographic."

The first deal of its kind

Clearly, given the lack of upfront costs and the quick-exit contract, this is a great option for anyone who can't commit to a long-term contract.

Then again, if you can commit to at least a one-year deal, then the monthly cost of broadband deals comes crashing down. Thanks to bargain-basement pricing and special offers aplenty, high-speed internet access has never been quite so cheap.
