The supermarket giant is giving free broadband for 12 months to its mobile phone customers.

Tesco Mobile offers free broadband for a year

Tesco Mobile is to offer all of its customers free broadband for a full year.

The supermarket giant's mobile network has 3.2 million customers, across pay monthly, pay-as-you-go and SIM-only deals. And all of them will be offered unlimited broadband for a year.

While the broadband won’t cost you a penny, there is £13.75 a month line rental to pay. However, at £165 for a full year’s access to the net, that represents a pretty special deal. And you don’t just get broadband – the package includes your home phone, with free evening and weekend calls.

All you need to do to take advantage of the deal is head to tescobroadband.com/mobile and follow the instructions.

The deal runs until 31st December and you earn three Clubcard points for every £1 you spend. Just make sure you can leave your current provider before you switch.

How Tesco compares

Of course, if you aren’t a Tesco Mobile customer and don’t fancy switching, it’s not much of an option. So let’s see how it compares to some of the best-value broadband deals on the market. (Note that these are broadband and home phone packages)

    Hi moreteavicar

I've checked both BroadbandChoices and Tesco's own website and I can't find where you are getting that result?

As usual the devil is in the detail (or FUP):

"Although your internet use of Tesco Broadband With Calls and

Tesco Broadband Only may be unlimited, we may impose a fair use limit on your

broadband usage, beyond which additional charges may apply. Any such limit will

be clearly set out at www.tescobroadband.com or in our marketing materials.

11.2 We will only impose a fair use limit on the use of the Services to prevent

unusual use and abuse. You must not use the Services to an extent which we

reasonably believe excessively or continually exceeds any upper limit which we

    impose."

In what way is that actually 'Unlimited'? Isn't it about time that the routine over-selling of broadband capacity was investigated?
