investing money

Hi, Please can someone help with giving me advice as to what the highest ROI of investing eg £500 for a maximum of 2 years. I bank with Halifax and Santander. I have done some research and comparisons of what the mainstream banks offer on fixed rate bonds (fixed deposits). For example, Halifax's ISA Save Fixed a/c offers 1.8% tax free interest which will yield £9 per year (thus £18 in 2 years, therefore, maturing to the figure of only £518. Are there any financial services out there that can yield anything from £1000, £2000 or more with an investment of £500 over 2 years maximum? Probably a naive question, but I'd be grateful if you could give any advice or lead. Kind regards, Chrys
