Tesco Clubcard revamp: the changes you need to know about

Updated on 11 July 2017 | 0 Comments

Tesco has revamped its Clubcard, adding new partners to the rewards scheme and upgrading it's mobile app. Here's all you need to know.

Tesco has announced it will carry out a full revamp of its Clubcard, complete with several new perks and a new look.

The new cards will feature contactless technology which will allow shoppers to add any points they earn to their account instantly.

You'll do this by tapping on the wireless paypoint (see picture above), rather than scanning a barcode on the infrared scanner as you currently have to.

So what else is changing? Read on to find out.

1. New reward partners

Uber and Hotels.com are just two of a host of new commercial partners being added to the scheme.

Clubcard holders will be able to use their points from shopping for journeys using the Uber app and when booking hotels online.

2. More flexibility when spending points

The supermarket is also making it easier to spend points with partners by lowering the minimum threshold from £2.50 to 50p.

3. App improvements

Tesco says major improvements have been made to the Clubcard app too. New customers can use it to sign up to the Clubcard straight away and existing customers will be able to access their vouchers at the checkout.

However, Tesco will still send out paper coupons as some Clubcard holders prefer to receive them this way.

The supermarket has been holding more regular card promotions including double points on the card since it scrapped its popular Boost scheme in April 2016.

When to expect your card

Tesco will begin posting cards to its millions of Clubcard customers from Friday (7 July).

The supermarket adds it will also have 2,500 ‘Clubcard Champions’ on hand to help customers who have questions about the changes.
