The cheapest deals on the Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

Updated on 16 September 2015 | 1 Comment

We round up the best pay monthly and handset deals for the latest Apple smartphones.

Last week Apple announced a new range of smartphones, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The 6s has a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen, while the 6s Plus offers a bigger 5.5-inch display. Both devices feature the new iOS 9 operating system, a powerful A9 chip, 12 MP camera, 4K video recording, Live Photos, and ‘3D Touch’, a pressure sensitive display that allows more levels of interaction with apps. The handsets will be available in silver, gold, space grey and now rose gold with 16GB, 64GB or 128GB of on-board storage.

Both the 6s and 6s Plus will hit stores from Friday 25th September, but you can pre-order yours now.

So we’ve taken a look at the cheapest handset costs for those that want the flexibility of a SIM-only contract as well as the 4G pay monthly deals for those that would prefer to spread the cost.

Where to get the handset cheapest

With a SIM-free handset you can avoid being locked into a contract, but you’ll have to have the cash to pay for the device upfront.

The recommended retail price of the iPhone 6s is £539 for the 16GB model, £619 for the 64GB model and £699 for the 128GB model.

Meanwhile, the recommended retail price of the iPhone 6s Plus is £619 for the 16GB model, £699 for the 64GB model and £789 for the 128GB model.

At the moment Apple is the only retailer offering the phones SIM-free so we haven’t been able to find anything cheaper. But we will update this piece when we do.

What the networks are offering

If you’re short of cash to pay for the new iPhone 6s handset upfront, you can go for a pay monthly deal instead.

Below is a round up of what’s on offer from each of the top 4G providers and third-party seller Carphone Warehouse.

Three

Three is offering all models of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus handsets on 24-month contracts for a set upfront cost of £99.

All the deals come with ‘all you can eat’ minutes and texts, and the choice of 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 12GB or all you can eat data.

The cheapest pay monthly 6s deal costs £38 (£43 for the 6s Plus) and comes with 1GB of data.

The unlimited data option is available for £51 a month on the 6s or £56 a month on the 6s Plus.

Three is the only provider to offer unlimited 4G data plans, however its network is limited compared to other providers.

O2

The deals are available on the network’s Refresh tariff, which separates the cost of the device from the airtime, which means upgrades are easier and monthly bills will drop once the handset is paid off.

The cheapest pay monthly deal costs £17.50, which gets you unlimited minutes and texts plus 1GB of data with an upfront cost of £629.99 for the 6s or £729.99 for the 6s Plus.

They will be available on its Anytime Upgrade tariffs, which separates the cost of the handset from the airtime, allowing easy upgrades and ensuring monthly costs fall once the device has been paid off.

The cheapest pay monthly deal is £42 a month for the 6s or £46 a month for the 6s Plus, with 3GB of data.
