A set of 50,000 coins is being produced featuring the iconic Elizabeth Tower.
The dawn of 2015 is being marked by a limited edition £100 coin produced by the Royal Mint.
Only 50,000 of the coin, which will be sold at face value and is legal tender should you want to spend it, will be made.
Fittingly for a commemorative new year coin, it features the Elizabeth Tower of the Houses of Parliament, which houses Big Ben, on the reverse or ‘tail’ side, with the queen on the obverse or ‘heads’ side.
The coin is made of two ounces of 999 fine silver. The Elizabeth Tower portrait was created by Royal Mint engravers Glyn Davies and Laura Clancy.
It’s the first £100 coin to be sold at face value, the Royal Mint says.
The Royal Mint has also recently produced a commemorative set of coins to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
