Sign up now for a year's worth of unlimited music streaming.

Music streaming website Deezer is now offering free one-year subscriptions to its service.

Deezer, which is based in France, is looking to compete with the likes of Spotify, which has tens of millions of subscribers worldwide.

Deezer is offering unlimited streaming for a year via its Discovery plan, although when the 12 months is up you’ll only be able to listen to two free hours a month. In common with Spotify, adverts play at regular intervals between tracks. Deezer has over 20 million tracks available.

New users of Spotify’s free service in the UK can currently get six months’ free streaming. That then drops to two and a half hours a week, although unused time is carried over.

[SPOTLIGHT]Deezer is hoping that many of the people who are drawn to its free service will upgrade to its premium, paid-for plans, which start at £4.99 a month for unlimited, ad-free streaming on a PC or Mac.

Getting people to pay for their music has been a tough crack for Spotify though. Figures released in December showed only a quarter of customers were on a paid plan.
