Retro fringing is back with a vengeance and we’ve found these terrific tasseled buys to update your interiors
From the Wild West to the golden age, this quirky edging has resurfaced a lot over the years in fashion and furniture, but now it’s bigger and better than ever.
You don’t need to go overboard with this trend, as just one or two accessories will effortlessly give your space a new lease of life. Fringing is a look that can add instant luxury and is a welcome addition in more minimal homes that need a statement accessory.
Don’t want to spend a huge amount? Give a nod to the look with cute candle holders, photo frames and curtain tie backs.
Here are some of our favorite ways to embrace the tassels…
Update your lighting
One of the easiest ways to bring this trend into your interior is with a super stylish lamp. This elegant emerald and gold table lamp is trés chic and adds interest to an otherwise unfussy space.
You could also look for tasseled ceiling lights to add a feature in taller rooms. We like the Aloha Fringe Chandelier from Anthropologie, £548 ($694), which is available in silver or pink.
Scatter some cushions
We love the rich jewel tones of these luxury velvet cushion covers. They work especially well with the fringing and certainly draw the eye. Arrange a few over the bed, on the sofa or spruce up an armchair with a contrasting shade.
Go big with furniture
This is a detail you can experiment with, so if you’re brave enough why not fully embrace the fun of the fringe with some furniture? This fringed side table oozes glamor and we reckon it would make the perfect retro bar or dressing table. It's also quite practical with shelving hidden under the tassels and a hidden vanity compartment.
Hang a mirror
Nothing brings a room to life quite like a mirror. Not only do they reflect the light and create a more spacious feel, but they can also be a great tool for jazzing up your home. With its semi-circular shape and gold threads, this statement piece is almost like artwork and taps into a number of trends.
Add texture with a rug
Fringing works really well on rugs, plus it's a great way to add texture to a plain wooden floor. This neutral design is made from cotton and would make the perfect addition to your hallway, or beside your bed for a laid-back look.
Say it with a stool
We reckon this fringed pouf makes a decadent addition to any dressing room table but would look equally magnificent as an extra seat in the living room. Don’t be afraid of color when selecting your fringed accessories – it only adds to the drama.
Throw it around
What better way to bring a trend into your home than with a wonderfully soft Alpaca throw? These gorgeous fringed blankets look so chic folded over the arm of a sofa or rolled up in a basket.
Go wild with the walls
If you’ve got a spacious room, why not create a statement with fringed wallpaper? Remember, darker colors and heavy fabrics on the wall can make a room seem smaller, so it’s best not to try this in a pokey bedroom.
Be bold with a statement sofa
Add beautiful boudoir vibes to your lounge with this sumptuous corner sofa comes in a range of colors, but we like this bright teal. With delicate fringing along the bottom, it’s a sophisticated take on tassells for grown-ups.
And so to bed
Go in a different direction from the colorful tassels and instead pick up some gorgeous white bedding with fringing detail. It'll keep your bedroom looking soft while adding an on-trend edge.
