Product test: EasiYo yoghurt maker

Updated on 16 November 2016 | 0 Comments

The loveFOOD team had a dabble at making our own yoghurt with the EasiYo maker.

I’m a real fan of making my own food where possible, so when the opportunity to make homemade yoghurt courtesy of EasiYo came up, I couldn’t say no.

The maker itself

The EasiYo yoghurt maker recently underwent a revamp – the first redesign in the 23 years the brand has been around – and we picked up a pink maker (because who doesn’t love pink!)

The maker is simple to use, and there are no electronics or moving parts, so it’s easy to clean once you’ve finished.

Spoiled for choice

If you aren’t sure what flavour you’re in the mood for, not to worry, there are 30 flavours to choose from including natural, Greek style, forest fruits, passion fruit, banana and apricot.

Creating the yogurt

It’s a three-step process (and you get a mini arm workout in with all the shaking) with minimal fuss.

All you need to do is add your EasiYo yogurt flavour sachet contents into the fermenting jar, mix it with tapwater and give it a good shake.

Next, fill the outer casing of the maker with boiling water to the top of the red baffle and place the pre-mixed fermenting jar inside the EasiYo maker.

For the finishing touches, you leave the jar inside the maker for 8-12 hours to allow the fermentation process. Then allow the yogurt to set and chill further in the fridge before serving.

Our results

We found this incredibly easy, and fun. The yogurt was thick, creamy, and tasted great on its own or with fruit and granola.

I think creating your own food, no matter how simple the process, is exciting and enjoyable, and if you have kids they'd have a great time getting involved too.
