Sainsbury's offers big increase on Nectar points on fuel

Sainsbury's is now offering 10 Nectar points for every litre of fuel you buy at its petrol stations for the whole of October.
Sainsbury's is offering extra Nectar points on every litre of fuel bought at its petrol stations in October.
Normally, customers get one Nectar point for every litre of fuel they buy but for October this will be increased to 10. These extra Nectar points are the equivalent of a 5p-a-litre fuel discount and with no limit on fill-ups you could really save some money.
"This is one of the biggest points giveaways we have ever done and will really boost our customers’ Nectar balances in the run up to Christmas,” says Avishai Moor, Sainsbury’s head of fuel. “We know that fuel can be a big expense, so we are happy to be able to reward motorists in this way.”
It's an interesting twist on the fuel price wars that supermarkets have engaged in this year, with a succession of price cuts in recent weeks.
Finding the best deal on fuel
To find the cheapest petrol or diesel near you sign up to fuel comparison site PetrolPrices.com. It is free to join and once you’re a member you can simply tap in a postcode and it will show you the cheapest fuel stations near you.
A search in the Bristol area shows that the cheapest petrol is 105.7p. The price at Sainsbury’s is 107.9p, but with the Nectar offer that falls to 102.9p.
If you want to cut your fuel costs even further, buy it with a cashback credit card. For example, the American Express Platinum Everyday card offers you 5% cashback for the first three months then 1.25% afterwards.
