Iceland ‘3 for 3p’ promotion: get milk, bread & more for just 1p

You can buy three daily essentials worth a maximum of £1 each for just 3p, but the promotion is only available online.

Iceland has launched an eye-catching promotion that promises huge savings on daily staples, but you’ll need to act fast if you want to take advantage.

As the name implies, the ‘3 for £0.03’ allows you to pick three essentials that you’ll pay a total of just 3p for.

While it’s an incredible offer, it’s worth stressing there are quite a few catches involved.

Firstly, it’s only available on items worth a maximum of £1, so for example a four-pint bottle of milk wouldn’t be included, but certain two-pint containers would.

The promotion can also only be applied once per shop, meaning a maximum saving of £2.97.

It’s also a short-term promotion that expires on 24 June, so you need to get your skates on if you’d like to take advantage.

Next, the promotion is only available for online shops, so you can’t just nip into your nearest store for a quick win.

Iceland charges a £3 delivery fee on orders under £40, so you’ll need to add a fair few items to your order if you don’t want the promotion to be instantly wiped out by costs.

Finally, the promotion isn’t automatically applied: instead, you’ll need to enter a discount code at checkout to save (more on that in the next section).

How it works

Iceland penny promotion (Image: Iceland)There are hundreds of items included in the promotion, not just daily staples.

Various frozen items, fizzy drinks and more are also available.

We went on the Iceland site to try out the promotion and we were struck by the fact the offer isn’t very visible from the homepage (at the time of publishing).

While some items were flagged up with a small yellow square saying 3 for ‘£0.03’ (see image on the right), many of the items included in the deal made no such mention.

Generally speaking, you can be confident that things like bread and milk under £1 will be covered.

If you’d like to see a full list of items included, you can either visit this dedicated Iceland page or scroll down the main Iceland shopping page until you see an item marked as being part of the promotion, then click on the ‘view offer’ link within the yellow square.

This will load an in-page popup (pictured below) showing you what’s available.

Once you’ve finished selecting all the items you want for your shop - remember that delivery charge on orders under £40 – you can just check out as usual.

Shortly before the payment page, you’ll see a small ‘promo code’ window near the bottom.

Paste the word ICEPENNY into the box and click the ‘apply code’ box.

You should see that your savings have been applied to your bill at this stage.

We tried it out and took a screengrab to show you how your bill should look:

Verdict: nice boost for Iceland regulars

The fact you can buy a couple pints of milk, loaf of bread and tub of butter for just 3p is a pretty remarkable offer.

However, the fact that it’s so time-limited and can only be applied once per online shop, means it’s not exactly going to make a meaningful dent in your monthly food bill.

It’s a nice little boost if you’re already an Iceland shopper or were thinking of giving the supermarket a whirl.

It doesn’t have the variety of one of the supermarket giants like Tesco or Sainsbury’s, but the fact it also offers free delivery on orders over £40 means you could save a decent chunk by trying them out this week.

Remember, some of the big supermarkets charge up to £7 for a home delivery slot.
