The Titanic's tragic tale

When the RMS Titanic left Southampton on 10 April 1912 bound for New York, she was the largest ocean liner afloat and widely believed to be unsinkable. Symbolising the wealth, lavish tastes and engineering ambition of the Edwardian age, her collision with an iceberg on 14 April – and the loss of over 1,500 lives – marked the end of an era. More than 113 years later, her tragic story still captivates.
