Over the last few years, the Packard Plant has mostly been demolished. However, in December 2025, Mayor Duggan announced plans for a 28-acre redevelopment for the southern half of Packard Plant.

The $50 million project will include a new 393,000-square-foot building that will include new affordable housing units and a MODEM museum dedicated to Detroit's electronic music scene. While the mayor conceded at the time that certain details had yet to be worked out, there were hopes that the historic site might finally have a future once more.

Sadly, in April 2026, local press reported those plans had been halted, meaning the wait for a concrete plan for the site goes on.
