Cliff Lee jumps up from number 42 on 2015’s list. After missing the entire 2015 season with a torn tendon in his left elbow, the Philadelphia Phillies paid £9.6 million to buy out his contract’s final year. The buyout was the largest in the history of the MLB. The sale saw Lee’s salary/winnings hit £22.3 million on top of his £77,000 endorsement deals.
