Switzerland outclasses every other country in terms of average wealth per adult. In 2025, the figure wowed at $910,382 (£682,945). However, according to UBS, between 2000 and 2025 real average wealth per adult grew by over 11%, whereas real median wealth actually fell by nearly 15%. The median figure is now $145,555 (£109,191), around six times less than the average.

Switzerland's Gini index score is 68, not the highest by any means, but the country's high proportion of wealthy individuals continues to skew the numbers. Around 13% of Swiss adults are US dollar millionaires, meaning roughly one in seven people in Switzerland hold millionaire status. And poverty is most definitely a problem, with around 8% of the population living below the breadline, though the bar is set relatively high.
