Discover the priciest and cheapest places to live and work abroad in 2024

Today, many people make the huge decision to relocate to another country. Common factors behind the trend include the chance of a better salary or the desire for a more comfortable life, but they're not the only reasons. For example, Google data has revealed that searches for moving abroad increased by more than 1,000% for certain countries after the US election result became clear.

The term expatriate (usually shortened to expat) refers to a person who lives or works outside their country of citizenship. Last year, InterNations, the world's largest expatriate network, released its Expat Insider 2024 Personal Finance Index, which ranks the worst and best countries for your wallet. The index is based on ratings from more than 12,500 expats and focuses on three areas: general cost of living, satisfaction with their financial situation and whether their disposable income is enough to lead a comfortable life.
