Little House on the Prairie 40 years on...

Warming the hearts of viewers during its eight-year run, NBC's American Western drama Little House on the Prairie aired for nine seasons between 1974 and 1982. 

The show was based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling series of books, which chronicled her unique childhood growing up in the Midwest of America between 1870 and 1894.
