The first US dollar was minted in 1794 and has gone on to become one of the world’s most powerful currencies – and it’s not just Americans who rely on it.

As part of his "economic shock therapy" plan, new Argentinian president Javier Milei has hit headlines for announcing he wants the Latin American nation to adopt the US dollar.
