Amazon Care was originally set up to offer healthcare services to Amazon employees but was rolled out to a range of other employers after its launch in 2019. The service struggled to gain much of a foothold though, and Amazon announced it would be closing the service in 2022, a month after agreeing to buy concierge primary care provider One Medical in a $3.9 billion (£3.31bn) deal.

The technology group confirmed Amazon Care would be wound up by the end of 2022 and that the decision would not affect any of the company's other healthcare services. The tech giant is now one of the names bidding for in-home health assessments provider Signify Health in a deal that's reported to end up valuing Signify in excess of $8 billion (£6.79bn).
