Matthew Charles Labyorteaux – also sometimes credited as Matthew Laborteaux or Matthew Charles – played Albert Quinn Ingalls throughout seasons five to nine of Little House on the Prairie.
The child star began acting in commercials when he was seven years old and landed his first movie role in the 1974 drama A Woman Under the Influence. The following year, he scored guest roles in cop show The Rookies and sitcom Phyllis.
Labyorteaux was just 12 years old when he was cast as Albert, an orphan boy who was adopted by the Ingalls family.
Labyorteaux reprised his role as Albert in the 1983 TV movie Little House: Look Back to Yesterday. He also went on to star in the 1986 Wes Craven horror movie Deadly Friend and landed guest roles in numerous TV shows throughout the 80s and 90s, including in soap opera Hotel and western drama Paradise.
However, Labyorteaux has mostly worked on vocal roles since Little House on the Prairie wrapped. He’s lent his voice to everything from the 1998 Disney movie Mulan to the children’s TV shows Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Winx Club.
In recent years, Labyorteaux has had speaking parts in the 2018 Netflix film Next Gen and the 2019 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic – Onslaught.
Today, Labyorteaux is estimated to be worth around $400,000.
Alison Arngrim played spoiled rich kid Nellie Oleson through seasons one to seven of Little House on the Prairie, and later reprised the role as a guest in the ninth and final season.
Arngrim started out as a child model and appeared in commercials before making her film debut in the 1974 comedy Throw Out the Anchor!
When she was just 12 years old, Arngrim auditioned to play leading lady Laura Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie. However, producers felt she was better suited as bratty antagonist Nellie.
While Arngrim later went on to appear in TV shows like The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, the role of Nellie remains her most iconic.
In 2002, the actress was actually honored by the Young Artist Foundation with its Former Child Star Lifetime Achievement Award for her performance in Little House on the Prairie.
Arngrim has also found success on the stage, appearing in a 2017 production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. She still makes the occasional big screen appearance, with her most recent role in the 2021 family flick Even in Dreams.
The star is estimated to be worth around $400,000 today.
Karen Grassle played Caroline Quiner Ingalls, the kind and doting matriarch of the Ingalls clan, for the first eight seasons of the show.
Grassle first flexed her acting chops on the stage, making her Broadway debut in the 1968 play The Gingham Dog.
She also starred on Broadway in Butterflies Are Free and Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, before making her screen debut in Little House on the Prairie.
Grassle has since gone on to appear in various feature films, including 1981's Harry’s War and Western Wyatt Earp in 1994, which co-starred Kevin Costner.
Grassle also reprised her role as Caroline in the 1984 TV movie Little House: The Last Farewell, and has made guest appearances in Murder, She Wrote on two occasions.
Now in her 80s, Grassle isn't embracing retirement anytime soon. Most recently, she appeared in in the 2021 drama movie Not to Forget. Her decades-spanning career has made her an estimated fortune of $500,000.
Identical twins Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush shared the role of Carrie Ingalls, the younger sister of main character Laura.
Sidney made her acting debut in the made-for-TV drama Sunshine in 1973.
The child star was just four years old when she was cast in Little House on the Prairie the following year, sharing the role with her sister.
When Little House on the Prairie ended, Sidney (pictured in 1980 with her twin) went on to star in the made-for-TV spin-off movie Little House Years in 1979. In 1983, she was cast in comedy movie Hambone and Hillie.
In recent years, Sidney has faded from the spotlight, and little is known about her personal or professional life. While her acting career has seemingly come to an end, the former child star does still make appearances in Little House on the Prairie-related shows.
She featured in the documentary The Little House Phenomenon: A Place in Television History in 2014 and also popped up in the 2021 online series Stars in the House, making an appearance in the Little House on the Prairie Cast Reunion episode.
Due to her privacy, information about her net worth is scarce. However, sources estimate that Sidney is worth around $500,000.
Now onto Lindsay Greenbush, who shared the role of Carrie Ingalls with her twin sister.
Like Sidney, Lindsay made her screen debut in Sunshine, before landing her Little House on the Prairie role at the tender age of four.
Much like her sister, Lindsay also reprised the role of Carrie in the made-for-TV movie Little House Years. In 1983, she scored her first role without her twin, appearing in an episode of crime show Matt Houston.
While her acting career has fizzled out, the former child star has appeared on numerous talk shows over the years, including Weekend Today and Home & Family.
Lindsay has continued to profit from her Little House on the Prairie days and also featured in the 2014 documentary The Little House Phenomenon: A Place in Television History and the online series Stars in the House.
It's thought that Lindsay is also worth around $500,000.
Melissa Gilbert played Laura Ingalls Wilder, the main protagonist of Little House on the Prairie.
The child star began acting in TV commercials and landed a small role in the movie The Reluctant Astronaut in 1967 at just three years old.
Prior to her Little House on the Prairie days, the in-demand starlet had also held minor roles in TV shows like Gunsmoke, Emergency!, and Tenafly.
Gilbert was aged 10 when she landed the role of Laura, beating around 500 other young actresses to score the coveted part.
Gilbert has gone on to enjoy a decade-spanning TV career. Her credits include the fantasy series Touched by an Angel and medical drama Nip/Tuck, and she also voiced Batgirl in 90s cartoon show Batman: The Animated Series.
Returning to her Little House roots, Gilbert reprised her role as Laura in three made-for-TV spin-off movies. She later played her on-screen mother Caroline Ingalls in a touring musical adaptation of Little House on the Prairie between 2009 and 2010.
The former child star also competed in the 14th season of Dancing with the Stars in 2012.
It’s estimated that Gilbert has earned herself a respectable fortune that sits somewhere between $500,000 to $1 million.
Melissa Sue Anderson played Mary Ingalls, the oldest sister of the family.
Anderson started her career by appearing in a string of TV commercials. She made her TV show debut in 1972 courtesy of an appearance in Bewitched and landed a small guest part in an episode of The Brady Bunch the following year.
She won the role of Mary in 1974 when she was 11 years old and was nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Leading Actress in a Drama Series for the part in 1978.
The Emmy-nominated star went on to enjoy a long and lucrative acting career after Little House on the Prairie ended.
She's appeared in a wide range of TV shows, including murder mystery Murder, She Wrote, crime drama Burke's Law, and horror anthology Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
Her silver screen credits include 1988 drama flick Far North and 1990 horror comedy Dead Men Don't Lie. Her career has been a little quiet more recently, with her most recent movie the 2018 heist flick The Con Is On.
Sources estimate that the actress is worth a cool $1.5 million.
The late Michael Landon played Charles Ingalls, the father of the family.
Landon was already a veteran actor by the time he joined Little House on the Prairie, having appeared in TV shows like Crossroads and The Restless Gun. He also had a number of movie credits, including 1957's I Was a Teenage Werewolf and 1958 crime drama High School Confidential.
However, his big break arguably came in 1959 when he landed a lead role in Western drama Bonanza, which was one of the world's first TV shows to be broadcast in color.
When Little House on the Prairie ended, Landon went on to star in several movies, including the 1982 adventure flick Love Is Forever and the 1984 coming-of-age drama Sam’s Son.
However, his greatest hit after Little House wrapped was his lead role in fantasy show Highway to Heaven, which aired on NBC between 1984 and 1989. As well as acting in it, Landon was also a writer, producer, and director on the wildly popular series.
The multi-talented star also went on to direct and act in two made-for-TV movies, Where Pigeons Go to Die in 1990 and Us in 1991, also serving as a writer on the latter project.
Landon passed away in 1991 at the age of 54, having fought a lengthy battle with cancer. At the time of his death, he reportedly had a fortune of around $40 million in today’s money.
