Worth a whopping $45 million (£36m), the oldest (and, dare we say it, wisest) Kardashian sister certainly loves to spend her money on property and interiors. The reality star/model/wellness guru is a mother three times over, to 12-year-old son Mason, 10-year-old daughter Penelope and seven-year-old son Reign—and trying for another with her new husband, Travis Barker. But where do they all live now? And where does Kourtney Kardashian Barker come from? Click or scroll through to find out...
The interiors-loving Kourtney has owned a number of houses in Calabasas, the Los Angeles neighbourhood that the Kardashian clan made so famous over their years as the first family of reality TV. But where did she grow up? Let’s take a look at the Poosh founder’s property portfolio and the places she has called home, starting at the very beginning…
Kourtney Mary Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California on April 18, 1979, to Robert Kardashian and Kris Houghton, now known worldwide as Kris Jenner. Kourtney has two younger sisters, Kim and Khloé, seen here on holiday together as children. She also has a younger brother, Rob, plus stepbrothers Burton, Brandon and Brody, stepsister Casey and half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, from Kris' subsequent marriage to Caitlyn Jenner.
Before they started blending families with the Jenners, the young Kardashian family lived in this Beverley Hills manse, boasting four bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a duck-shaped pool and an egg-shaped Jacuzzi. The heavenly childhood home of Kourtney, Kim and Khloé was later put on the market for $2.2 million (£1.8m) by Robert in 1994, following his 1991 divorce from Kris.
Kourtney attended a Roman Catholic all-girls private school in Los Angeles, Marymount High School. Shortly after graduating, the reality star-to-be moved to Dallas, Texas to attend Southern Methodist University for two years. She then moved to Arizona, graduating from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Spanish, alongside classmate and fellow reality star, Nicole Richie.
In 2006, the Kardashian family starred in the reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E! Entertainment. Although we know Kourtney from the success of that show, she actually first became familiar to TV audiences via the 2005 series, Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive, on which she earned money for charity.
Kourtney was famously in a somewhat tumultuous and not-so-private, on-again, off-again relationship with socialite New Yorker, Scott Disick from 2005 to 2015. Seen here in 2008, the pair reportedly met at a mutual friend’s house party in Mexico before having three children together. But where did the young couple live before their trio of kids came along?
Our screen queen bought this modest Calabasas house in 2006 for $829,000 (£664k), which is situated within a gated community inside a secure residential area known as The Oaks. The two-bed townhouse spreads across 2,245 square feet and was home to Kourtney and Scott for four years up until 2010, following a traumatic incident. But let's take a look around...
According to the real estate listing, the former Kardashian-Disick property boasts handsome hardwood flooring, granite counters, a marble bar and vaulted ceilings. Outside, they would have enjoyed their private yard with covered patio, fountain and lush landscaping. If that wasn’t enough, the couple could have taken advantage of the refrigerated wine closet, though that may have caused issues in later years as Disick reached sobriety.
Unfortunately, in 2009 the pair were burgled, shattering their dreams of living in a secure community. Kourtney was pregnant with her first child, Mason, at the time and lost a huge sum of money and jewellery, according to reports at the time. The items taken included some vintage treasures given to her by her late father Robert Kardashian, who passed away in 2003. The couple later listed the property for $700,000 (£561k) in July 2010. So where did they move to next?
Kourtney and Scott snapped up this 5,334 square feet, four-bedroom house in—you guessed it—Calabasas. Costing a cool $1.7 million (£1.4m) in 2010, the property was a perfect home for the ever-growing family.
The sunny Californian home was soon to be transformed into an 'Alice in Wonderland meets Beetlejuice' abode, as Scott reportedly quipped, with eclectic interior design choices from Kourtney. Rich, dark, chocolate-stained hardwood flooring runs through the double-height hallway, leading towards a stunning staircase and the living and dining room areas, which fans of the family's reality show will recognise as the location for the pair’s heated ‘discussions’.
According to the real estate listing, the second-floor master suite includes its own sitting area, a fireplace for extra heated chats and a walk-in closet, with a large bathroom suite featuring a private balcony that overlooks the backyard and surrounding Californian hills.
An organically shaped swimming pool, raised spa and a built-in fire pit awaits outside in the perfectly landscaped backyard. While many a happy year was spent here together, the family of four were about to become a family of five, so decided to sell up for a reported $2.98 million (£2.4m), plus an additional $125,000 (£100k) to throw in some of the furnishings.
Five years later, Kourtney and her sister filmed another Kardashian spin-off show, Kourtney and Khloé Take the Hamptons, with partner Scott Disick. Together, they spent the summer of 2014 in a rather luxurious Hamptons house, listed for sale for $13.95 million (£11.2m) at the time, it cost them $295,000 (£236k) to rent for three months.
As the listing states, the waterfront Southampton estate sits atop almost two acres and overlooks the harbour and Peconic Bay, with an 85-foot private dock lane with space enough for three boats. Which was handy, as Scott reportedly decided to place an antique yacht there, much to the delight of the paparazzi.
The 8,900-square-foot has five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, a professional-grade kitchen and even an oversized den for the kids. Instagram-ready backdrops beckoned from the porch complete with an outdoor fireplace. The celebrity Hamptons home was most recently on the market in 2021 for just shy of $10 million (£8m).
The same year, with third child Penelope on the way, Kourtney and Scott moved once more within The Oaks. The pair reportedly bought their two-acre estate from retired NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, for $7.5 million (£6m)—an impressive $4.5 million (£3.6m) less than the 2011 listing price.
The 12,000-square-foot mansion is filled with luxury features including a swimming pool for those classic Kardashian insta-ready poses, along with a home cinema, a spa with sauna and a sports court, plus six bedrooms and multiple living areas.
Kourtney certainly flexed her interior design muscles here, decking the residence out in monochrome with neutral furnishings and natural textures throughout. However, as seen in this infamous Architectural Digest home tour video, there’s still room for the kids to have fun and play (sort of).
The clutter-free Calabasas house can be found not too far from the seven-bedroom family home of a certain musician, Travis Barker, which he bought back in 2007. He revealed in the new HULU series, called simply The Kardashians, that he had bought the house to be close to Kourtney even before there was a romantic connection.
More recently, the health-driven mum-of-three founded her lifestyle and wellness brand, Poosh. She named the business after her daughter Penelope’s nickname, according to her interview with the LA Times. Poosh has expanded from a celebrity-backed venture into a full-blown lifestyle empire, up there with Gwyneth Paltrow's wellness brand, Goop.
In January 2021, it was confirmed that Kourtney was in a relationship with 46-year-old Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker. In October 2021, the PDA-loving duo got engaged at a beachside hotel in Montecito, California. The besotted couple have had three weddings (so far!): first, they went for an unofficial Vegas wedding, complete with Elvis impersonator, at the One Love Chapel on 3 April 2022, followed by an official service in Santa Barbara where they got their marriage license, and finally they celebrated with friends and family on 22 May at a grand ceremony in Portofino, Italy. The pair kickstarted their honeymoon with a cruise, but where will they live when they get back?
While they haven't announced officially where the newly blended family will live full-time, Travis has owned a property in Calabasas, California for 15 years, and he shares it with his three children. The family home stretches across almost 10,000 square feet, and is more minimalist than you might expect. The drummer told Architectural Digest that he’d "had homes with lots of flashy cars, murals, and bikes hanging from the ceiling” but that with his own children, plus Kourtney’s, this property seemed like "a place where [they] can create memories".
Travis describes his living room as a ‘zen’ place he returns to after busy tours and long days in the recording studio. Graphic art decorates the walls and comes from the likes of Raymond Pattibon and West Lane. Large double doors lead out onto the garden—an addition made by designer-to-the-stars, Waldo Fernandez, who was recommended to Travis by his new mother-in-law, Kris Jenner.
It’s unsurprising that a man with his own record label would have his own home studio, and he told Architectural Digest he built it himself. Inclusive of a vocal booth, keyboards, and—of course—a top of the range drum kit, the room has played a key role in a lot of Travis’ music, particularly when he had to record remotely during periods of lockdown.
This is the pool where Travis’ children learnt to swim and it’s been the location of a few wild parties in its time! Other quirky features of this home include a bed that vibrates, a designated matcha station in the kitchen and multiple closets stuffed with vintage t-shirts. The place also comes with a home theatre, kitted out with 100 professionally-tuned speakers for the ultimate viewing experience.
The loved-up couple, who have five kids between them, have been playing happy families at a multi-bedroomed abode in the gated community of La Quinta in Palm Springs, with celebrity (family) neighbours such as Kris Jenner, Cindy Crawford and Tim Cook. The mum-of-three reportedly forked out a cool $12 million (£9.6m) for the Californian property, with epic surrounding views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Did you think Kourtney would live anywhere else?
Kourtney has kept her chic neutral colour palette alive in the open-plan abode, with a white and wood kitchen, cream sofas and expansive glass sliding doors to seamlessly glide between photoshoots. Keeping it in the family, the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion is said to be a short drive from the holiday home of Kourtney’s mother, Kris Jenner. Ideal for if the couple ever needs a babysitter, then.
The kids would never be bored here, as the estate reportedly comes with a 15-hole golf course and infinity-edge swimming pool, while the adults can appreciate the custom bar and wine room, complete with quartz worktops. Seen here celebrating Memorial Day weekend, the couple even hired an inflatable water slide.
With so many huge life changes and new revelations every week on The Kardashians series, the future looks exciting for the eldest sister of the world's most famous family. We can't wait to see what she does next!
