Where to buy new car tyres online?

I can't afford to buy a new car and my tyres are pretty much non-existent. I therefore need to buy tyres replacements urgently! I'm keen to buy online and found www.protyre.co.uk to be a good website for price. Any recommendations?

www.blackcircles.com - Good cheap fully fitted tyre service.

I've not used them myself due to the type of tyres I require but my brother swears by them.

Why do you want to buy online? The best deals I've found are local garages whose specialism is tyres - I'm sure there'll be something similar near you. Stay away from Kwikfit, ring around a couple of places and play the quotes off - you'll end up with a good price.

I'd echo the previous respondents comments - blackcircles are good - although once you've found a good garage through them it tends to be cheaper just to use them direct next time ....

Look on-line to get a target price and then phone around and play them off against eachother. I find RSR competitive.

Thanks guys - really helpful. I'm an 'online' person, so tend to do a lot of my buying online. I hear you can get the tyres cheap online and fitted at a local garage. As I've mentioned you can order through http://www.protyre.co.uk and then arrange for the tyres to be fiited at a local Protyre branded outlet, guaranteed customer satisfaction surely? They are a local garage, as mentioned above so will offer high customer service.

Whereas blackcircles would not offer that guarantee perhaps?

@alainelmundo09 - Blackcircles is exactly the same business model there are a load of others as well. It's not just a case of sticking with one.

My brother shops around three or four sites all with the same model. If you want to know the names of the other sites I can get them for you.

Whichever site you use you invariably end up using a garage you know and have used before. I agree with Mike that it is worth haggling between the garages direct but I would be uncomfortable doing this and if you are as well this is the best alternative.

Most of the tyre dealers have a price match/beat policy. You just ask them their best price for however many tyres you need (better price the more tyres). They say a price of £x, so you say that you have been given a price of £y by whoever it was and they will either say that they can't better that or they will match it or just beat it. No haggling is involved.

Do that 2 or 3 times over the phone and choose whoever was cheapest.

You can't afford to buy a new car, which means that your car is old but serve your purpose. If that is the case then WHY? do you want to buy new tyres?

Cheap and a very good option!

Fit second hand tyres, which cost between £10 to £20 each fully fitted. If you are fitting all 4 then haggle and you will get £20 tyres for £15 each. Four tyres for £60 fully balanced and fitted. Some of these second hand tyre places will let you pick and choose. For the past few years I had been fitting second hand tyres on my car and never had problems, plus its cheaper. One goes and its only £15 to £20 and not £60/£70 or £80.

My brother-in-law fits new tyres on his 5 series BMW costing him £80 a piece. Now he feels the pinch and most of the time his car is sitting in his drive.
