I am considering working through an agency. I can choose PAYE inc sick pay/hols or be paid gross at a higher rate . What do Fools think?

I am a basic rate taxpayer already, and have some income from property as well. I am not particularly concerned about the fringe benefits, because I only want to work part time. My question is which would be the best or most simple option, given that I will have to fill in self assessment forms anyway.

The main difference is in National Insurance Contributions, but you wouldn't get Sick Pay or 2nd tier pension.

You have to pay tax but not as early. You can also claim more allowances. But you do have to get an exemption certificate and you might need an accountant.
