Borrowing a lump sum to buy a partner out f a mortgage?

I would like to raise £17k to buy my partners equity out of a joint mortgage. Is this possible on an interest free credit card using the 'stoozing' technique to give myself a couple of years - I am unsure of what type of payment (spending or transfer) transferring that sum to a person would be classed as. Or if I transfer a lump some to the lender and they pay him? Otherwise I assume finding a low cost loan is the option? I am confident that I have a good credit rating as inky ever borrowed and repaid nominal sums when spending abroad, have overpaid the mortgage and have the usual credit history through contracts for mobile phones etc. Any advice greatly appreciated! :-)
