Is it possible for a loan to Mother to be secured against her property?

My Mum needs to raise some cash for new car/replacement windows and door etc, but on very basic pension. I was wondering if I lent her the money (several thousand £ at least), if that loan could be secured against her mortgage-free property? And then, if my Mum needs to ever go into a home (hopefully not!), then would my loan take precedence for repayment from the proceeds of the property? Thanks
