Is there anyone prepared to lend me £100,000 for a property? I am divorcing my husband who ran up huge debts.

I am divorcing my husband and the house is on the market. Once I discovered the debts, I took charge of the ones in joint name (although I did not use the credit cards and wasn't aware of the debt) by getting a debt management plan. I am selling my house and because of my now poor credit rating cannot get a mortgage. I have a good job (£2,500 per month) and am of good character. I just need someone to take a chance on me so I can downsize to the minimum. (£100,000 property). Is there anyone out there who would do that?

I suggest that you post on the fool .co.uk dealing with debt board. You will be asked for full financial information, but your options will be put before you by evenhanded experts with no axe to grind.

You say that your current property is on the market. Is it likely to fetch more than the outstanding mortgage?

If so, you can offset the joint debts from the balance before splitting the remainder, if any, with your husband.

As you already have a debt management plan, you could put your proceeds of the sale as a deposit towards a new home, which would reduce the amount needed to be borrowed.

Google 'Peer to Peer lending' to find the various sites which specialise in what you want.
