881Yes it would cost. You would also have to renegotiate your mortgage to joint names.
Unless you intend to remain there until you die, it probably wouldn't be worth while.
In the event of a marriage break-up, all property would be totted up for division, so that wouldn't make any difference.
It would only matter on your death if that was before him. You would need to leave it to him in your will, if that would be your wish. It would then have to go through probate and transfer.
If it was in joint names as Joint Tenants, it would automatically revert to the survivor on first death. Nothing would need to be done. When the survivor died or sold, the death certificate of the first to die would need to be shown to the solicitor.
