Are you referring to the PPI premiums paid to the Credit Card provider on behalf of the PPI insurer?

If so, you can claim them back as unfair charges.

However, if you are referring to a reclaim against tax as an expense then that would be between you and the taxman. He might want documentation or he might not. The card would have had to have been for business expenses only in order to claim for all of it. You might be able to agree a % if it was used partially for business on a regular basis.

You can't reclaim the premiums and reclaim the tax.

PPI would have covered you not your business, so I doubt it. There was never any need to use a claims company to do what you could have done yourself very easily, but you might as well ask HMRC, but don't be dissapointed if the answer is no.

At the end of the day, I cannot see this as a legitimate business expense myself.

    Hi

Why is the Tax man (HMRC) mentioned,as the information i require is to claim back

monies i have paid to a PPI claims company, which were engaged 2010 this i belive

am entitled to get back from Credit card companies,as an additional claim for extra

monies taken to get PPI charges back, this also has got nothing to do with a business

This is all personal, if you can advise this would be great, apologise for any confusion.

That makes it clearer. Short answer is no. You could have got a total refund had you done it yourself, but instead chose to engage a claims company to write a couple of letters for you instead. Their charges are as a direct result of your employing them., nothing to do with the credit card companies at all.

For the benefit of anyone else reading this, these so-called claims companies are only doing what anyone can do for themselves.

They are not experts in any way and as soon as another mis-selling looms over the horizon they latch on to that. They have attempted some avenues with very little success - the debt write-offs spring to mind!

Welcome back, Joe, by the way.

    ---------------------------------------------------

You can take anything you like to the small claims court. First question who are you going to sue? If it is the credit card company they will say that they have repaid all that you are due, they did not take the decision to employ a claims firm and will defend vigourously.

If you sue the claims company, they will say that you employed them to get you a refund and they have done so.

I don't see the basis for a claim, but feel free to spend some money on small claims court or go see a solicitor.

    Thanks for the welcome Mike.
