As a private Ebayer, I'm looking for a reliable and reasonably priced postal service for the delivery of my packets and parcels in the UK?

The Royal Mail is still the best option, I believe. TNT / UPS / DHL cannot compete on price, unless you are a large organisation with enough clout to negotiate a smaller rate per item.

Don't forget that if you are buying and selling, it classifies as trading and you then become liable for tax on the profits and would no longer classify as a private Ebayer.

That would not be the case if you were selling items that you have had for a while and had used and which were now surplus to requirements.

    fodigie,

It all depends on the size of your packages. In some cases, Royal Mail is cheaper for sending small packages and in some cases other service providers are even cheaper than Royal Mail.

For large & heavy packages there are sub-contractors who provide cheaper rates for the same service as DHL, Parcelforce, TNT, Yodel etc.etc. Forexample Parcelforce charges £30 for a next day delivery of 10 kgs parcel. You can send the same parcel through Parcelforce sub-contractors for £10 for next day delivery. It will be collected and delivered by Parcelforce and all documentations will be from Parcelforce but the service will come through a sub-contractor.

Remember, never use City Link or buy service from Parcel2go. Worse service providers and customer services.

If you need any further assistance get on eBay's discussion boards where there are 1000s of experienced eBayers who will answer your questions and will guide you to the right direction. Good Luck.

Try http://www.collectmyparcel.com where you can get and instant price. You get £50 FREE cover and you can get extra if you need it. They are the cheapest and best for customer service and you can track your parcel from collection to delivery where it will be signed for.
