Are Halifax allowed to do this?? I ask to open an ISA & they book me for a full financial review.

I wanted to open a Halifax ISA last week but was told there were no slots and I had to book an appointment and come back today. I turned up today to find I had been booked in for a whole hour for a full financial review. I did not want this nor did I ask for this. I just wanted to open an ISA. How long should this take. When she started asking me allsorts I was NOT IMPRESSED. Anyone else found this? Are they allowed to do this? Why can't they just open the damn account? I have had this situation with another bank a few years back when I took a loan out with PC World for a pc - (which I paid back in full in the allocated time for 0%). The bank sent me a letter asking me to come in for an appointment. I panicked and went in inly to find them telling me they were 'impressed' with the way I had handled my loan and did I want another one. Danm sneaky if you ask me. I told them in simple terms that I did not want a loan and if I ever do I will source one myself thank you very much!
