Hey everyone new to Lovemoney and hoping someone can throw some ideas my way. I have £10,000 to invest but no idea what my options are or where to begin so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking preferably for short term investments but im open to ideas.

    Welcome

If you are interested only in short term investment, you are restricted to Cash investments unless you are prepared to gamble.

The questions then are: is it a lump sum or is there a monthly element? how soon would you need it? Some should be in Instant Access unless you have some of that already which hasn't been included. At least 3 months net pay should be held in Instant Access accounts. What is your age/marital/family status? Different circumstances would lead to different investment strategies.

If you haven't got ISAs already then the £10k should be in Cash ISAs. £5.1k could be invested before 5 April and the rest afterwards.

Best advice would vary from person to person according to individual circumstances.

    Mike
