How can i find a reliable and efficient foreign exchange service?

I live overseas and want to send a lump sum home to pay off part of my mortgage. The bank charges poor rates of exchange and i know there are specialist online foreign exchange companies offering far better rates - but who can I trust? They ask for all your personal information and I am wary about handing this info over the internet. There are all sorts of kite marks on the sites but how can I tell which is genuine and secure? Does anyone have experience of this or can give a recommendation?
