Does anyone have any experience with Bath Resurfacing?

I am looking to generally freshen up my bathroom, but one of the challenges is the bath witch is scratched and generally scruffy looking. Checking the internet I have found a company called Surface Doctor www.surfacedoctor.co.uk who have given a quote that seems reasonable - I had cheaper quotes, but am nervous about the quality.

The relative lack of disruption as opposed to having a new bath fitted included the plastering, tiling and plumbing work needed appeals to me, as does the idea that I won't be adding my existing bath into landfill.

But I don't know anyone who has had their bath resurfaced - does anyone here have any experience of this either generally, or with Surface Doctor in particular?

Thanks

Haven't had direct experience with this one,but there are a LOT of these companies at the moment, you'll have to just use your skill'n'judgment to try and suss out how reliable they are,go compare,la la la dooby do and go compare..costs aren't always going to be a reliable indicator, but if they say they can do it for 40 quid mate and everyone else seems to be quoting 200,then you might want to think on..

perhaps I'm being pessimistic, but the first thing to find out maybe,is what kind of quality or service guarantee they offer,ask/enquire/obtain an answer to "what will you do if I don't like the work,or it ruins my tub?" if you pay for a service,anything..presumably you enter a contract, read the small print, what EXACTLY are you paying for, what does it cover? If you pay 3 quid to get your £60 silk tie dry cleaned and they ruin it,what do you do,you pay for carpet steam- cleaning, they ruin it,ditto...? Find out what it is they do,what, exactly, you pay for and what's the procedure if they stuff it up..

NB,you can get "DIY" re-surfacing kits,we're talking £50-60 quid..no idea if they're any good, ask yourself,How bad is my existing tub, will it matter if I ruin it,could me and a mate D.I.Ourselves Sunday afternoon for £60?' depends, you could do that and it's fine, saved yourself money and it's a job-well-done,or you might end up having to grow tomatoes in it instead, and get a new tub, pays your money and takes your choice, isn't it? good luck!

Hi i have recently had my bath resurfaced like yours it was looking very worn with chips all over it ,i looked into replacing the bath but found it so much cheaper to have the bath resurfaced rather than to take it out ,i could not find another bath the same size to fit in the space i have in the bathroom ,then a freind reccomended a company called Bathrestore ,the price i was given was very good compaired with some of the larger companies offering the same service,I did phone around a few other companies and there were a few that were cheaper but no other company could offer a warranty as long as bathrestore could ,this company really do no there stuff would highly recommend them to anyone ,hope you get your bath sorted.
