What does 'Protected No Claim Bonus' mean?

I had 10 years 'protected no claim bonus' on my car insurance last year. But during the year I had 2 fault accidents (both claims settled). When I received my insurance renewal notice this year the premium quoted was £1200 (last year £250) with the No Claim Bonus down to 0 years!

Is this right? I was under the impression that 2 fault accidents are allowed in a 3 year period before losing the NCD. Please advise?

You will have to check your policy for the precise wording. It may be that 2 are allowed in a 3 year period, but not 2 in 1 year. The exact definitions vary.
