Where can a 17 year old put their savings ? The best savings accounts are for 18+ and kid's accounts go up to 16.

    I asked this question about a year ago but can't remember the answer(s), my son put his money into a Nationwide account which gave him an ATM card but no cheque book.

    There are accounts which cover the patch in between, i.e. the minimum age is 16 years rather than 18 years. Try researching:

    * Easy Access - Birmingham Midshires Telephone Issue 3 (2.6%); Mansfield BS Postal Issue 2 (2.5%); Principality BS Issue 3 (2.4%); M&S Everyday (2.35%).

    * Regular Saver - Norwich & Peterborough Regular (4%); Saffron BS (4%); Nottingham BS (3.1%); Beverly BS (3.1%).

    From a quick scan all the above seem to allow applications from those aged 16 and over but please do doublecheck that information (as well as any restrictions on the accounts).

    HTH - Kat
