Simple mistake or start of a scam? Call sounded like it was from a call centre, number was withheld on 1471

If it was a scam, they now have one additional piece of information about you than they had before.

You have told them that you didn't and never have had a Dyson.

Now I don't know that that will do them any good, but it would be a lot safer if folks refused to engage and did not give anything away.

One perfect way that works for me. Whoever they are, before they can get much out, and definately without answering questions like "is that Mr Easedale?"

Me Can I have your credit card number please?

Them - Usually some kind of ingerogative.

Me. Do you want to ask me questions then?

Them - always some kind of yes.

Me. I charge for answering questions, what is your credit card number so that I can take my fee.

Whatever they say, just repeat, well I can't help you without your credit card number.

It gives you something to say without answering any questions, and eventually they go away. In the unlikely event that they give you a number, the response is " I am sorry I am unable to verify that number, would you care to give it to me again?
