212At this kind of level it's not going to make much difference, especially if you have to ask what is the best option, as opposed to knowing lots about camera equipment already.
Buy the best you can within your budget ... the less functions the camera has the higher the quality will be of what it does ... providing you go to a big dealer.
However you might prefer the features over the quality.
Go to Jessops/Currys/Dixons/Comet/etc not the local private camera shop ... you'll get the best comparisons at the best price at this kind of level.
It's really up to you.
Don't be swayed to spend over budget if this is really the limiting factor.

41Could always look at reviews on price comparison sites (where you can sort by brand and price): http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/cl/29/Digital-Cameras?man_id=25&price_min=&price_max=150.

83I wouldn't dismiss a local dealer. I'd go to one of the big guys and see what you like and then go to a local shop and ask to see the same thing but last year's model. You might get something they've discounted because something has come in a new colour this year. Acutally I had this exact discussion a couple of months back at Jessops re binoculars so they may in fact be your best bet!
