New job - no pension scheme - what to do next?

I've recently started a new job which unfortunately doesn't operate a pension. For the last 18 months I've been contributing to Group Personal Pension Plan and before that I had a personal pension plan that I'd been paying into since I was 21 (although a small amount each month). So at the moment I have no pension and want to know what to do for the best. Should I leave my existing pensions as they are, continue one of them or combine them both in to a new pension? My existing pensions are cash plans and someone has mentioned that I may be better putting them in to stocks as will get more of a return, but I'm not sure. Any advice would be great. PS I'm 38
