they are paper share certificates.

is there a online service that maybe i can type in the certificate number? if dread that if i go to a bank and get them to do it the little money that they might be worth will end up in their pocket..i have done some googling but it is not clear exactly what i have to do.. any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks

What is the company name, the date of the certificate, the nominal amount of the shares and the number of shares?

    Hopefully we can help.

Marconi - if the cert looks pretty, then frame it. Otherwise bin it. See this http://boards.fool.co.uk/Message.asp?mid=10477077&sort=whole#10477163

British Aerospace - still going strong - but this is such a miniture holding (£7 correct???) that it is hardly worth chasing up on. I f you want to, then write to the registrars here http://bae-systems-investor-relations.production.investis.com/en/shareholder-information/registrars.aspx. Don't call the telephone number as the cost may exced the value of the shares :)
