Trying to invest in HSBC FTSE 250 Index FTSE 250 and Halifax UK FTSE All Share Index Tracker

I was reading the top 10 index trackers article and would be interested in investing but the only link is to Legal and General - is this because lovemoney has a contract of some sort with them? How do I apply for the HSBC or Halifax Index tracker

If you really want them then go into a branch and ask. The HSBC website doesn't have the 250 - All-share or 100!

Thankyou. I get the impression that maybe it is not a good idea? I must say I am very confused as everytime I try to look into shares, they state you must have an account, or pay so much a month to deal on line etc or sign up to something first, or contact your broker

I thought the idea of tracker shares was to be able to deal with it yourself esp. ETF's but HSBC site wants an account first etc. As I am with Alliance and Leicester perhaps that is my only route?

Does Legal and General allow you to buy shares without signing up?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I am determined to understand all this!

Have no answer - I am in the same boat as meganthebichon. So much info but no one to ask for taking out a tracker with all the management fees. Have booked an appointment for HSBC for next week. See if they can clarify it all and the fees offered are within the range recommended by Love Money. Want to use an ISA to put tracker in - another issue I cannot get to the bottom of. So hope I can understand it better. Just Dazed and Confused

Have you tried Selftrade.co.uk? You can get the HSBC fund on there plus a 250 fund. The world's your oyster; pretty much any traded fund is on there.
