I previously used a website mentioned on lovemoney to remove my telephone number from receiving sales/scam calls.

I have now moved and want to opt out again but cannot remember the website to do so. It was free and easy and definately came from an article or post on lovemoney/motley fool. Does anyone have the details please?

    Telephone preference service:

    http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

Note that this service will only stop you receiving sales calls. It won't necessarily stop you receiving scam calls, as scammers tend not to register with the ICO or follow any rules at all. So don't assume you won't be targeted by scammers just because you have registered here.

My own experience of this site is that it doesnt work for the pest callers, usually debt solutions companies, which indiscriminately call known telephone number ranges, irrespective of whether they are on the TPS list. It also doesn't stop other companies that you call (e.g. gas, electric) harvesting your number and adding it to their lists for both their own purposes and sell-on.
