Can I stop work now and defer my NHS pension until age 55 in Oct 2010 with no loss of benefits

I am a State Registered Nurse and have been in the NHS Pension scheme since age 17. I am 53 years old.

I wish to stop work and take my full pension (based on contributions) on my 55th Birthday in October 2010.

If I stop work now will I lose any pension entitlement (other than the addition 2 years of contributions.

I have tried my work pension advisor and the NHS Pensions agency and can not get an answer (i guess they are too busy as everyone is wanting to retire from the NHS)

You will only get the perfect answer from your NHS pension agency. When you say they are too busy how many letters have you sent them? How many phone calls?
