Who's spent the least this Christmas? for a lovemoney.com blog!

I reckon I've spent about £160 on presents for 11 relatives - so just under £15 per person.

I'm sure many of you can beat that. Have any of you managed to have a 'free' Christmas - where you haven't spent any money on presents at all? If so, how did you do it? And if not, what's your average spend per person?

I have spent absolutely zilch this year but have drawn up a list of promises to a total of 15 different people - each with different promises.

For example, play with my little nephew at least 3 hours a week uninterrupted.

    Beats presents!!!

Wow Donna - that's pretty impressive.

champ69 - sounds like you have got your priorities right and you've managed to escape the xmas stress!

Simple Guy - that's a nice idea; you're going to be busy in Jan!

I got 30% and free delivery on Amazon which turned out to be a pretty good deal. Cosy jumpers for my brothers, presents for nephew and friends' children.

Worked out at: £18.75 per person

Set a budget of £10-15 per person and stuck to it!

    Really pleased with myself.

The OH and I declared a £30 max. I would have exceeded it but it turns out the MIL bought the exact same present so I said I'd send mine back.

I think my biggest spend this year was for friends - I'm horrible about birthday presents so made a special effort to 2 of my buddies. For other family members and friends who are not in the UK I've been super cheap and they're getting home made paper that includes seeds I've harvested from my and the neighbours gardens. Biggest expense with those will be posting - which admittedly I'm leaving til next week - couldn't stand the queues at the post office.

There are some people who are spending nothing from 26th December onwards, other than for food and toiletries. Its a test to see how long one can really make do and mend. Interesting experiment? Soon available on various social networking sites, could be very popular next year

Watch out! Sending those seeds could be illegal if not to the EU.

I reckon simpleguy84 spent the most (3 hours/week playing with my grandson would equals two years off life and £2000 of damage, emergency presents to entertain etc).

    Champ69 made the best investment.

Not this year, but last year I spent £4 on a charity made Xmas pudding. Ate it all myself. Oh yes, a £6 wreath for the door. It died on me, so not again.
