Not at fault accident but insurance company refusing to make full compensation.
My wife was involved in a minor car accident whilst stationary. The other drivers insurance company accepted liability. Although the damage was minor - broken headlight and indicator the insurance company's appointed assessor wrote the vehicle off. The insurance company offered a settlement figure way below the value of the car and when we declined it they said we must take the matter up with their assessors and in the meantime they would send a cheque for their offer value "without prejudice". The assessors agreed to increase the valuation by £100 and when we last spoke to them they confirmed that they had informed the insurance company of this several times. We still cannot get any more money out of the insurance company despite sending a 7 day letter. Is there anything else we can do short of taking them to the small claims court?
