Does Wii Fit really work?

As the nights are drawing in and I find myself wanting to stay cosy at home, I was wondering if I might be able to make the most of the winter months and reduce my spending by investing in a Wii Fit instead of going to the gym. Did a quick price check and found a console plus Wii Fit for about £230. Spread over a year, that's roughly £19 per month, less than half the cost of my gym. The only thing is, I'm a bit sceptical as to whether you can really get results with Wii Fit? Has anyone experienced improved fitness from using it?
