a bit of both ... book online with TravelEx and pick up at the airport.

Don't forget your Abbey (Santander) Zero Credit Card. Put all your spend on that and you will get the commercial rate of exchange and no 2.75% loading like all the other cards. That is better than cash.

How does this compare with the cash passport cards ... they charge them up with the foreign currency before you go ... no exchange rate to pay ... no charge on transactions.

Presumably there's a loading fee ... but I can't find out what it is on the TravelEx site without completing a purchase (assuming it's hiding in there somewhere).

A good alternative if you don't want the danger of a credit card ?

Hmm a bit more research on my part has revealed there are charges all over the place on the cash passport cards ... I won't be using them for my holiday ... !

I've found the Post Office to be very competitive but to get the best rate you should order your currency on-line and collect it from your nearest Post Office.

I really can't recommend them highly enough (if you live in London). They even deliver to your office, home etc and they are far far better rates than the post office.

I got my AUD form them last month and was very pleased with the rate as at the time (and now) the AUD was strong

    best regards,
